COMMUNITY TALKS
At Epiphany, we offer a variety of programs and talks to encourage meaningful engagement with important topics of our modern world. Our Community Talks have guest presenters who are experts in various fields, and who engage parishioners and neighbors in discussions and practical actions in areas such as:
Social Justice
The Catholic Church has a long history and depth of thought regarding social justice issues. Our Community Talks delve into topics such as racial equality, economic disparities, and human rights. By bringing attention to these critical issues, the Church aims to spark conversations that lead to greater awareness, advocacy, and targeted acts of justice within our neighborhood, city, state, and national communities.
Environment
Pope Francis’s emphasis on caring for creation has inspired us to dialogue with others about concern for the environment. Community talks explore topics like sustainability, conservation, and climate change. Such discussions can help the church actualize our commitment as good stewards, and provide our neighbors with similar inspirational ideas.
Community Concerns
Epiphany lives within the Gramercy and Kips Bay neighborhoods, and our Community Talks address issues relative to our common home, such as providing aid to immigrants, policing measures, health resources and services for the elderly. Some of these presentations could result in action plans and advocacy efforts.
Creative Arts
Epiphany recognizes the holiness inherent in creative expression and effort. Through programs and presentations highlighting various art forms like music, poetry, literature, and visual arts, participants can explore ways in which the Holy Spirit speaks with the language of creativity to the human heart.
