The Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday marks the start of the Easter Triduum, the three days leading up to Easter Sunday. We remember the Last Supper, where Jesus shared bread and wine with his apostles, instituting the Eucharist. Holy Thursday also commemorates the institution of the priesthood, as Jesus entrusted his mission and sacrifice to his apostles and their successors. During the Mass, the priest washes the feet of several parishioners, symbolizing Jesus' washing the feet of his disciples. After the Mass, the consecrated hosts are placed on a temporary "altar of repose" away from the main altar, where the faithful can spend time in prayer and adoration. After the Holy Thursday Mass, there are no further Masses until the Easter Vigil.
