EPIPHANY PRAYER CORPS LOGO AD.jpg

Jesus teaches us about the importance of prayer. The Gospels record seventeen times that Jesus took time apart to pray. In the Scriptures, Jesus prays often, morning and night. He prays during critical events in his life and he prays before ministering to people in need. Jesus is a model of prayer for us.

Prayer ministry is, of course, the calling of every member of Epiphany, since Baptism initiates us into the one Body of Christ and commissions us as a priestly people to care for one another by prayer as well as action. This ministry is exercised generally for the human race and creation itself, but takes on more specific characteristics as we pray for those dear to us and for those in our own parish community.

The Epiphany Prayer Corps ministry was created to support parish programs and individuals in need of prayer. Its members meet bi-weekly. Their work consists of

  • praying as a group for specific parish initiatives (such as ongoing Alpha courses, ministry, fellowship and outreach programs)

  • praying for individuals with needs (health issues, healing, life issues)

  • praying for families who have suffered recent losses

  • praying for individual children in our 1st Communion and Confirmation classes

  • praying for our sisters and brothers in our local community, our city, state, country and nation

  • praying with and for the Church

  • writing our Sunday Mass intercessory Prayers of the Faithful

  • praying with and for individual people at the end of Sunday Masses
