SOCIAL JUSTICE MINISTRIES
Social Justice Ministries within the Catholic Church have long been at the forefront of advocating for positive change in society. Guided by the principles of Catholic social teaching, these ministries aim to address issues such as poverty, racism, inequality, and injustice. Pope Francis has added a major new category: care for our common home of God’s Creation. At Epiphany we work towards creating a more just and dignified world, inspired by the teachings of Jesus Christ. By engaging in direct service, education, advocacy, and community organizing, our social justice ministries mobilize parishioners and allies to be agents of change here in our Gramercy neighborhood and in our city. Whether it's providing assistance to the marginalized, fighting for fair wages and workers' rights, or standing up against systemic injustices, our social justice efforts attempt to play a pivotal role in fostering a more compassionate and equitable society.
“People say, what is the sense of our small effort? They cannot see that we must lay one brick at a time, take one step at a time. . No one has a right to sit down and feel hopeless. There is too much work to do.”
